The Palladium

About Us

The People's Palladium seeks to develop a permanent stage to facilitate the artistic and imaginative abilities of young people in today's changing and diverse communities. We are an organization that encourages the engagement of diverse and multicultural identities to experience different cultures.

On the foundation of 'equality of opportunity' we intend on championing the relationship between theatre work and its ability to activate and evolve social, cultural and moral realities. The People's Palladium intends to create a 'Theatre of Ideas' – to provoke an individual to think about morality, human relations or history. We question what place 'Theatre of Ideas' has in our lives, and what the artistic or philosophical attitude we should take towards it.

We believe that the diversity we find ourselves in is a core asset providing creative energy to make play and pleasure the hallmark of The People’s Palladium. The People’s Palladium sees theatre to play various roles in our lives ranging from therapy to entertainment allowing us to explore who we are and express the many and varied definitions of our identity.

History

Our first performance, an adaptation of Federico Garcia Lorca’s ‘Blood Wedding’, a story of love and passion, was successfully received by the community with much praise and critical acclaim.

The degree of commitment from the voluntary cast members and production crew allowed this performance to inspire and engage an urban audience.

This has been the driving force of the original contributors to create The People’s Palladium.
